Late March, 2014 The Social Express™, developed by The Language Express Inc., received a 2014 ON for Learning Award from Common Sense
Media, the national nonprofit dedicated to helping kids thrive with media and
technology.
The
Social Express™ Serious Game is an online, interactive social skills
learning program, targeting core deficit social skill areas that stand in the
way of school and life success for children and young adults with social learning
challenges.
In the game, players are expected to help Zack,
Emma, Sam, and Katie solve social problems! This Serious Game features a series
of appealing episodes that mirror real world social situations, using video
modeling, "hidden rules," and suggestions for how to problem-solve in
daily life.
The two levels of play are differentiated with
basic cues for beginners and more social situations for intermediate users: Level
1 is for younger children or those who have difficulty understanding social
interactions. Level 2 is useful for children who understand social rules but
have difficulty applying them in real life. Players have to work their way
through the episodes in order to unlock the next lesson.
