Developed by Digitec Interactive for the Council for Economic Education (CEE),
and aimed at middle school and high school students, Gen i Revolution is an online
Serious Game that gives students the opportunity to learn important personal
finance skills as they play and compete against fellow classmates. The episodic
learning game supports both single player and team play, while the platform also
includes lessons, materials and additional resources for teachers.
Managed by the CEE, the suite of games is supported
by the state and national standards-aligned online book Learning, Earning
and Investing, which offers lessons, complemented with visuals and
activities and a glossary of financial terms, also available as a downloadable Companion Resource and an Integration
Guide
The Gen i Revolution consists of fifteen
interactive missions in which students complete a variety of activities to help
them learn important personal finance concepts such as: building wealth,
investing in human capital, budgeting, credit, risk and return, stocks, bonds,
mutual funds, forecasting the future, and financial planning.
Within each mission, students are introduced to a
character who is facing a particular financial crisis. As a part of the Gen
i Revolution, students learn about the crisis, strategically select their “Operatives”,
and then complete activities with the ultimate goal of solving the mission.
