The Canadian Space Agency and Project Whitecard Inc have also won the prestigious Gold Medal in the International Serious Play Awards Competition with the Serious Game Planting The Seed For Space Exploration in the Education category.
Designed specifically for classrooms, the Canadian Space Agency's 3D education resources have been developed on an interactive platform that simulates the experience of flying on a Soyuz spacecraft and living and working on a space station.
Reaching
approximately 1 million elementary students this year, Planting the Seed
simulates the experience of working on the International Space Station with the
guidance of a virtual astronaut, Chris Hadfield. Students learn about the role
of plants in biological life support systems by creating a virtual living wall
inside the ISS.
Project Whitecard Inc. worked alongside the CSA and Chris Hadfield to render authentic 3D environments as well as inspired learning programming and dialogue in both English and French that give players a real feeling of working and learning on the Space Station.
